Why do you wobble when you walk?

Last night I had the first of I assume many 'uncomfortable' discussions with Jacob.

We were at Lowes, going to swap out a power cable for our new range (needed a 4 prong, not 3 prong). We were holding hands walking along and he asked me

Dad? Why do you wobble when you walk?

Oh my god, I've been asked that question all of my life. And that one time was the hardest for me. I lost step, almost fell. I felt like I had been hit with a baseball bat. I wanted to sit down and cry (heck I tear up just writing about it). At that moment I was no longer 'Perfect Daddy'.

But I recovered and explained to him that I have CP, and it affects the way I walk.

His response?

Oh ... ok.

And we kept going. Just like that, blam, done, thank you, no more information needed at this point.

Wow

I hope all of our 'uncomfortable' talks go this easy.
