I would like to extend my deepest apologies to the international community. I hate to think what message was sent today, between the Presidential race and the eleven states voting to ban gay marriage. I am so embarrassed to be an American right now.
I am embarrassed if Bush is declared the winner, that there are enough short-sighted cousin humpers in our country to elect the bastard AGAIN. I am embarrassed if Kerry wins at the last second, that it was even close. And I'm really embarrassed if the election hinges on fraud and lawsuits, because aren't we the defenders of clean and honest democracy in developing nations?
And I'm so, so depressed. I want to be angry, but I'm just sad. This election tells me things about my fellow citizens that I didn't want to believe. That apparently, this is who we really are. This is the face that we WANT to show the world. Good lord.
