Pamela and I dropped the boys off with Far-mor and Far-far Sunday afernoon and went to the local mega-plex to see 'The Incredibles'.
As we walked out of the theater yesterday afternoon, two thoughts ran through my head ..
'That was better than X-Men2 or Spiderman, thats what a superhero movie is supposed to be'
And
'Man, it's times like this I'm envious of the people working here at the movie theater. I'd love to get my hands on one of these Incredibles posters .. oohhh and that Charlie and Chocolate Factory one also .. I wonder if I could get a part-time job as a projectionist?'
Then reality hit .. I looked at all that polyester and remembered why I became a computer geek, so I didn't have to wear the dumbass uniforms retail/service people have to wear.
I was telling Pamela last night that while I'll watch it again and again.. I don't think the movie was quite as 'magical' to me. Finding Nemo is so rich and vibrant, The Incredibles just misses a bit.
I'm not saying it was bad .. oh nononono .. It was great fun .. everything a super hero movie should be. I now understand why Plastic-Man and Reed Richards are cooler superheroes than I thought.
Not spoiling anything, but let me just tell you. There is this point in the movie when the boy 'Dash' realises exactly what the ability to run fast means. What that type of power can do. He does this momentary glance down at his feet, and then he gets this gleam in his eye, a smile on his face and it's like a light turns on .. very subtle, very neat.
Marvel Comics should take note and contact Pixar and make a really cool AVENGERS movie.
I wonder if when they were making this Pixar was already planning on leaving 'the Mouse', so they didn't put their heart into it. You can really see that in the trailers for 'Cars' .. woo! That's going to be a let down.
I noticed that the trailers for 'The Incredibles' and the movie itself didn't quite jibe .. there were scenes in the trailers that weren't in the movie. I wonder if they created them just for the trailer or will they be on the special edition dvd. The Frozone bit on the trailer and in the movie were edited completely different.
As for the previews .. Star Wars III was shown .. I was unimpressed .. my heartrate didnt even quicken. I've been burned twice in a row, I'm not expecting ANYTHING anymore from Lucas.
Oh! and if you haven't seen Incredibles yet, don't worry about staying to the end for anything extra (like the end of Toy Story),we did .. there was nothing there.
