Rainy Thursday Morning

Well, it's a rainy day here in Hot-N-Humid North Florida. The temp is running around 65 degrees Fahrenheit (that's 19 in Celsius). It sure is nice to be able to go outside and not immediately wilt from the heat and humidity. I went outside yesterday for about an hour and a half to clean the yard a bit and never broke into a sweat (well, hardly). Do you think that this is it? That the cool of autumn is finally upon us? Maybe I can break out the sweatshirts and flannels?

I'm planning on pulling my basil crop up by the roots today and get the bed ready for some winter crops. A buddy of mine is going to drop some turnip seeds off, and I think I've got some broccoli seeds stashed somewhere. I'll have to go thru my seed stash and see what I have. I think for the spring I am looking at a variety of Tomatoes, Basil, Peppers, Loofa, Beans and Peas (all sorts). And then late in the summer some squashes (Acorn, Winter, and Pumpkin). Dad has planted corn once or twice maybe if i get all the beds I have planned built I'll try that too. Of course all types of herbs will be dropped down everywhwere, I'd like to get more Rosemary (Great Hedge and smells wonderful), garlic, chives, oregano, parlsey (the butterflies love it!).

I have a big old pine tree in the front yard that I can no longer mow around because the roots are coming up to the surface. So I need to build a bed around it so it looks nice, maybe some Mexican Heather, some ferns and a few Herbs ...

I'm still looking for a job, I've put my resume out on many of the job sites (Monster, HotJobs, CareerBuilder, Yahoo). Have gotten a few nibbles but nothing definitive yet. I just got word another one of my friends has lost his job, So in the past 3 months there have been 4 of us laid off. THIS SUCKS! Are you listening W.?
