geocaching

I have a new 'obesession','hobby', whatever you want to call it.

It's called geocaching. You may have or have not heard of this before. It involves using a GPS, and finding/hiding 'treasure' somewhere.

Douglas bought a GPS a year or so ago, and our DBA at work bought one soon after. One day at lunch we went to find a cache that had been hidden close to our work. We walked across the field and into the edge of the woods and found the cache rather easily. Inside the well hidden ammo-box was a logbook, and some trinkets. The idea is to sign the log-book, swap a trinket or two and enjoy the thrill of the search and your surroundings.

For Christmas Pamela bought me a nice GPS and we as a family have gone out a searching a few times. By the second cache we found as a family Pamela was ready to create and hide her own caches. This weekend as we were picking up Jacobs Cake from "Au Peche", Jacob and I found a micro-cache (basically a film cannister) in the parking lot of the shop. woo!

I'll probably blog more about this , again and again, especially after finding fun ones.
