Sometimes I feel like I am on “Super Secret Video Iron Chef”. I come home to make dinner, and get handed a variety of foods by Pamela and the boys and get the “Make something with this speech.” Today I get a call from Pamela around 4, and she says –
“Um … Honey, is there something you can make with … bamboo shoots tonight?”
“Bamboo shoots?” I think to myself, “We had Bamboo shoots in the pantry?”
“Sure,” I say “How about Lo Mien for dinner? Might I ask why were the bamboo shoots opened?”
“Cub and I were watching a show on Pandas. He wanted to know what a bamboo shoot tasted like”
“OH! Well that explains it,” I say, with a slap to the forehead.
So, I go through the list of ingredients to see if we have all the fixings for Lo Mien. Sure enough we do, so I guess I’ll be making Lo Mien for dinner.
Mind you, it’s not that I am complaining. I LOVE to cook; I love it when I just don’t cook the same thing over and over again. I love being able to come into a kitchen cold … go through the cabinets and figure out a meal with what’s on hand.
Pamela always tells people that when she wakes up in the middle of the night and I’m not in bed, I am not watching porn, I’m watching FoodTv. I’ll watch some of the cooking shows on FoodTv over and over again. I always seem to pick something new up everytime I watch.
