storms

Yesterday, everyone at work was all in a lather about the 'storms' coming our way. People were saying things like -

Do you think I should go buy plywood for the windows?

I heard that putting big X's on your windows with Duct Tape will keep them from shattering.

I wonder if Lowes has any generators left?

I sent my wife to the store to stock up on canned goods and dehydrated water.

Certain members of management were trying to get the 'emergency contact' information disseminated to the worker bees until after 5pm, After most of the employees had already left for home(don't you think you should have done this BEFORE the storm was approaching?).

I looked around and realized that nobody in any position of authority had ever even BEEN in a hurricane, much less the tropical storms we were about to endure. Yes, I know this looks like a great opportunity for our hero to step up to the plate. But no, I just sat back and watched with a bit of glee, I made preparations to go about business as normal for the rest of the week.

Myself and the rest of IT dept. Figured that if they close the plant we'll go ahead and come in. It'll give us the ability to do some much needed work on the servers.

Looking at the 'live color radar' this morning, looks like we are about to be hit with a ton of rain .. and me without a umbrella .. hahaha!
