geek alert!

This I think, goes quite a ways to show just how geeky my group of friends are. Yesterday as we were emailing each other to find out about lunch plans the following exchange took place.

First from Scott -

I still can't get over the fact that I am living and working down here, I have made plans for lunch, but would be up for something later this week, tomorrow? Let me know.,
scott

Then From Dave -

Scott said, "I still can't get over the fact that I am living and working down here...."

Yeah, well, as far as I'm concerned, it's not a fact, yet. All I've seen are emails from you and Smith.

So I say, "I disbelieve!" (The DM rolls my Wisdom, looks at the die, tells me the emails are still there.) "Hmmm, there might be a powerful Illusionist lurking about. I ready my longbow...."

Ah well, I should get back to role-playing an 8th level Programmer.

8-)

Then from Douglas -

Geez, you're 8th level?

To which I responded -

Here I am just a poor Level 5/3 Administrator/Programmer ..
That’s what happens when you multi-class ...

Of course the Arcane Magic of Linux means it's going to be a while before see another level. I keep getting XP's taken away for stupid things that the Half-Orc programmers are doing. Can you believe they implemented into production a new program without running thru the QA pixies? So yesterday the whole IT staff has to run around the office patching all the PC's in the entire building (200+), meanwhile the Engineering Dwarves and the HR Harpies are screaming about not being able to work. Even when we got the Head Accounting Gnome's pc patched it still didn't work, and if he doesn’t work, then we don't get our gold pieces at the end of the week.

And the Balrog of an IT director was in an especially foul mood because of the screw-up, he's still a bit touchy today, I keep getting that whiff of brimstone.

Pretty cool though, I've learned a few cantrips to help me along, ones like "Grep","tail","more" and "Dig". Too bad they only work really well when doing the Arcane Linux and not the Necromantic WinOS. Not that Necromancy doesn’t have it's place in the world, I just try to keep it at a minimum in my dungeon. The Half-orcs are mad for it, and they keep wanting to expand their ".net " magical knowledge. One of them actually had the gall to tell me that an ASP Page would be faster than a SHELL script. I had to point out the BASH Script was easily manipulated and is editable from the command, while the ASP page would have to be handled thru an interpreter and might be misspoken (we all know what happens when you misspeak a spell).
