Thats MR. Plumber!

Finally! I got the thinga-ma-bob(update .. it's called a 'diverter') loose. Now I can brave the dorks at Home Depot and see if I can get a replacement. Then the guest bathtub will be in working order once again. Of course this is really just a reprieve because now I must do the same job on the Master Bathtub.

OK, ok .. lemme explain this little 'fix-it' job has been hanging around my neck for the past month. The faucets in the tub were leaking and I needed to replace the rubber washers that keep everything tight and allow for easy movement of the faucets. Well, I inadvertantly removed the wrong piece on the valve and then proceeded to bend where it screwed into. So, instead of replacing just the 'seats' and gaskets I had to replace the whole valve mechanisms.

Well then, of course, I ran into an issue where the valve that controls the tub/shower mechanism wouldnt come undone. It was STUCK. No IFS, ANDS, or BUTS, this valve was not co-operating. And it got to the point where I had rubbed the corners off the the area where the wrench goes, I was afraid I was going to have to call a dun! dun! dahhh! plumber. But dad called and saved the day, he said he thinks he has a box-end wrench of the right size (15/16).

So we drop by there to drop off a computer I had fixed, let the grandparents have a little 'Jacob time' and get dinner (woo!). On the way out the door, as we are going through the garage Dad reminds me about the wrench, I grab it and head towards the car. On the way to bed tonight I remembered it was lying on the kitchen counter. SO I go in the bathroom with a resigned sigh, knowing full well this isnt going to work. And it does! Woo! No calling a plumber!

So tomorrow at lunch I'll stop by Home Depot and see what they have.

Hopefully Pamela will give me that 'My hero!' look when I tell her of this in the morning. But I have a feeling it'll be more the 'About time! now get on the master bath' expression instead.
