After spending all summer swimming over at his FarFar and FarMor's swimming pool one would think that he'd be all set to go swimming when we went to the beach in Denmark. But NOOOO (of course), he took one look at the sand and the vast expanse of water and indicated there was NO-WAY he was getting anywhere near that. Of course his cousin Emilie showed him up by 'pulling off' her wings and diving right in. At one point she just plopped completly underwater like a little mermaid.
My thoughts after we left the beach was 'oh jeez, thats it he'll decide he doesn't like the pool either'. But, I was happily surprised, This weekend we went over to the pool for a visit on Saturday afternoon he put on his wings and decided he was in his own element. He paddled around the pool and everyonce in a while did one of those faceplant rolls that are easily done with those water wings. When it was time to get out of the pool he had graduated to standing on the steps and jumping forward into the water. We are going to have to start making a trip to the beach more often and hopefully it'll get him used to sand and surf.
